Over the years, our annual carnival has become a much-anticipated event, fostering community spirit, joy, and togetherness: It not only provides a day of fun and entertainment for families, but also plays a vital role in raising awareness and funds for essential services that benefit many in our neighbourhood. We are very grateful for the support and volunteers who came forward last year, but we were still all very stretched on carnival day, and simply did not have enough volunteers. 

We find ourselves at a crucial juncture that may jeopardise its future and regrettably, unless we receive significant community support, we will be unable to organise the carnival this year.  

We urge you to attend our Extraordinary commitee meeting on Thursday February 6th 2025 at 7.30 pm at the Victoria Hall, where we will discuss the success of this appeal and the ultimate fate of the carnival. We also plan to award the engraved cups to the winners from 2024. The bar will be open. To ensure that this tradition continues to bring smiles and support to our community, we kindly appeal to you, our neighbours and friends, for assistance.  

Here are a few ways you can help:

• 1. First and Foremost we need a chair/coordinator to oversee arrangements for events during the year culminating in the carnival itself.

• 2. Volunteer to be on the organising committee. We need to refresh the committee with new blood! Most of us have been involved in the committee for more than 3 years and we can't go on forever! 

• 2. Donate Your Time to help us run events throughout the year:  Whether it's helping with set-up, marshalling, managing stalls, or overseeing activities, every pair of hands makes a huge difference.

• 3. Spread the Word: Share our appeal with friends, family, and local businesses who might be interested in supporting or sponsoring the event.

• 4. Provide Resources: Any donations, whether financial or in-kind (such as equipment, food, or prizes), would be immensely beneficial. 

We believe that with your help, we can overcome these challenges and continue this cherished event. Your support will not only save the carnival but also strengthen the bonds of our community, providing a memorable and joyous day for all ages.
