We are currently looking for at least 9 people to help with this years Carnival. Here is your opportunity to a part of Tisbury village life. We are looking for volunteers to take on specific roles, to help spread the load, bring in more expertise and start to build-up the carnival again. Last year we had a new committee of just 7, and very little time, but we managed to get the Carnival up and running. What a great success it was too, a lot of fun and some wonderful feedback from attendees and volunteers a like.
Here are 9 areas that would benefit from their own Co-ordinator.
1 Road closure and Marshall’s – managing locations points and notices - briefing Marshall's
2 Carnival Royals - Name the royals, child royals’ outfits, and float. Inc; glam gran etc
3 Street entertainment - engage performers to take part in the parade
( Samba band, Fire Eaters, Morris Dancers etc) within the limits of the budget.
4 Carnival Week Activities - liaising with venues around the village to host activities –
crib, skittles, darts, quiz, tea and bingo, etc.
5 Fund raising - plan fund raising activities through the year to provide funds for carnival.
6 Health and Safety - manage overview of our risk assessment and implementation of
recommendations, arranging first aid cover on the day of carnival.
7 Advertising and publicity - Printing and distribution of carnival brochure, liaising with
Boatwrights over advertising board slips and siting of them around the village before
carnival. Liaising with Focus to publicise carnival events.
8 Carnival Bar in the Square – arrange set up – bar cover – refreshments for sale
9 Carnival Volunteers – managing list and tasks
There is a huge amount to plan and organise. The more hands on deck this year, the easier and more smoothly everything will run. Taking on any of the above won’t require you to attend endless committee meetings, but to feedback to a nominated committee member beforehand and perhaps attending a couple of meetings as Carnival Day approaches.
